ABBOTT BROS RHEUMATIC REMEDY EST (1880 OR 1888 ?) CHICAGO Before we start listing some facts about the Abbott Bros. there are some uncertain questions about them. While trying to find some information about them i noticed that some people say they were established in 1880 and other say 1888. At one time I had six of these bottles and could never make out the last two numbers in the date. Some also say that this company was the beginning of the Abbott Alkaluidal Company which is also from Chicago and was also established in 1888. I am not 100% sure which it is but here what I found out. The Abbott Bros. company was located at 417 Dearborn Street Chicago, Ill. According to the label this product contained 24 % alcohol and was a Remedy for a long list of aliments. There are five variants of these bottles below are two of them. Here are photos of this 7 ¼ inch tall amber bottle. It is embossed ABBOTT BROS. / RHEUMATIC REMEDY /ABBOTT BROS. (RHEUMATIC REMEDY EST 18?? INSIDE A MEDILIAN) CHICAGO.  . ...The Abbott's Bros. put out a brusure called Abbott's Bulletin and claimed absolute facts, no fiction. It was published by Abbott Bros Co. Chicago. He would become a graduate of the University of Michigan in 1885. He would become a practicing physician and also owed a drug store in Chicago. In 1888 he founded the Abbott Alkaluidal Company.
