OLD SACHEM BITTERS & WIGWAM TONIC WARNING Beware of reproductions of these bottles currently being offered. The name Old Sachem come from a Great Indian Chief. It is uncertain when this product originated but it was advertised as early as April 1859 but most likely earlier. Below is a Lithograph. "Lith. Of Sarony. Major & Knapp 449 Broadway, N. York. Deposited in Clerk's office. Southern Dist. New York, Aug, 5 1859 and then Stamped Nov 25, 1859". ![]() William Goodrich was the proprietor of the Old Sachem Bitters & Wigwam Tonic. The firm was located at 145 Water Street New York, New York. Between the years of 1864 to 1867 the New Haven City Directories lists Merrick and Moore Company as the proprietor.
