O. P. BISSELL: BISSELL'S TONIC BITTERS PATENTED JANY.21.1868: PEORIA, ILL. There is very little information about O. P. Bissell and his Tonic Bitters. He is listed in the 1850 cenus from Peoria County August 29, 1850. Saying he was born in NewYork and is the age of 35 in 1850 meaning he would have been born in 1815. He is also listed in the 1870 History of Peoria,Ill. as owning a Dry Goods Business. These bottle were made between 1868 to 1872 with L& W on the base standing for the Lorenz & Wrightman Glass Works. This square bottle is 9 inches tall and the color is a medium orange amber. This 7 1/2 inch tall bottle is rectangular in shape and clear in color. Listed as extremly rare. The Ringham also lists a amber square bottle embossed GREAT / WESTERN. TONIC. BITTERS / PATENTED.
